Blogs Are Down Under

I read an interesting article on Australian bloggers. It claims that the country lacks bloggers because of bandwidth issues and the weather. Since it has excellent weather, many people are busy outdoors instead of indoors like us cave dwellers.

I’ll buy the bandwidth issues, but not the weather. If climate was an issue California wouldn’t have any bloggers at all. Don’t get me wrong, who doesn’t like to be outside on a nice day? Take today for instance. It’s a gorgeous day here in New York. The air is crisp this morning and will go up to the low 80’s, yet I’ve managed to get some work done. It’s about being productive and having discipline. Being a musician requires a certain amount of discipline. When I was young I spent many hours indoors while my friends were outside playing. My discipline came from within. Although my parents were somewhat supportive, they never made me practice.

Blogging requires a certain amount of discipline, it’s that simple. Another point this article makes is that Australians are reluctant to share their views as often as others. Stop. Talk about making excuses.
